Nero Longhaired Dachshund the story of love…

This is a very This is a very special post as Nero passed away last Monday just a few days after our session.

Lovely Nero, nearly 16 years young, was diagnosed with a final stage of kidney failure. We knew that I had to get there asp, so the next day I spend some time documenting their life together. Her mom did not want to have posh portraits, but a little slice of everyday to remember each an every moment.

Here she is resting on her bed at home, she was not feeling her best.., but still looked at her mom with affection.

After the session at home we decided to take Nero out for a stroll..

It was quite hot and sunny and she was not feeling her best.., but being in the shade helped a bit.

Nero was falling asleep just standing there.

Some moments were better..

That was the only action I was able to get out of her the whole day..

I am sure Nero will continue to look over Yukari from above.

I just have to quote the beautiful good bye words from Nero’s mom email today:

Nero has passed away early Monday morning…
Before I could ask our vet to put her to sleep, she passed away on top me on our bed, looking at my teary smile, hearing “I love you so much, thank you so much” and getting a huge hug from me. She fought so much until the very end, but her face was so peaceful and so beautiful when she left.
Although I accept the fact that she’s gone to a nice place and resting in peace without any pain (with lots of her favorite food, I hope!), Now I just simply miss her so much. I know it will take some time, but I will be fine, otherwise Nero will be worried about me.”

You did such a marvelous job capturing both Nero’s spirit as well as the special bond she shared with her human. My deepest sympathy to Nero’s mom.

She will be so glad to have this beautiful session filled with memories.
