First I have to say thanks to Martin Cooper for inventing a cell phone over 35 years ago..if it was not for this handy tool me and Sandra (JaC mom) would have not found each other. Turns out that the park maps do not take into consideration that someone can actually drive into the green area and needs a place to park. The entrance where we we going to meet was walk in only and it was quite a detour to the parking lot.. and then there are so many places to park too, but we had cell phones! That is why I always ask my clients for their cell number..Wow, that was long! So here were are at 8:30 am on a frosty morning (Coquitlam still has snow!) and I get to meet JaC and his mommy. Now is your turn..
In this photo he really looks like a Gordon Setter descendant. JaC has been with his mommy for over two years, she was volunteering at local SPCA, walking dogs and she walked JaC. She thought that young, beautiful dog will fast find a new home.. But when he was not adopted over Christmas, Sandra could not stop herself from taking him home, at that time she lived with 18 years old little dog. The dogs liked each other and JaC was his companion for another year, when the tiny guy passed away at the age of 19! Remarkable live. This and seeing Sandra with JaC gives me a full confidence that this beautiful pooch will have long and happy life. I am writing more than usual, it is Sandra’s fault! She encouraged me saying that she enjoyed reading my blog. My apologies to English teachers, I am pretty sure it must be painful to digest my writing. Ok, more pictures.
We set out for a walk on the trails and JaC almost immediately decided to go for a swim… who cares about the photos? Oh, I forgot to mention that JaC is a rock-star and acts like one.. very active one.
He looks so adorable in the water..and on the trails and so on and so on! Sandra was laughing that the only photos she gets of him look like a big black blob, and I think she expected this from our session. I have to admit I had my work out for me, first black dog on the snow. Then black dog in the dark forest.. I hate to bump up my ISO, but I had no choice.. JaC was ignoring as as much as he could, there was so many friends on the trials.. until the treats came out! Sandra did a great job on getting JaC to comply for the shot.
We spend two hours in the park and since only one of us was wearing fur all over we decided to her inside Sandra’s place to take some home shots. JaC was tired and hungry and so relaxed, so easy to work with. It was like crossing the door to his own place changed him. See the peaceful and obedient JaC…
His eyes fixed on his mommy.
I have to say Sandra has a fantastic assistant, she held lights and treats and directed the dog. It makes a huge difference when the owners can work well with me and the dog.
JaC and mommy wanted some photos together and I am keeping these private, except one ..
I had a fun day, the truth is am down with the cold today (I knew I should carry rum in my bag!), but it was worth it. I hope Sandra will feel the same way when she sees the final images.. keeping my fingers crossed!
Hi Angie,
My shaggy baby in all his glory! I love the pics! Thank you for coming out into the cold and making it such a great experience for us both. I’m pretty sure JaC enjoyed himself. These are pictures that I could never have taken myself.
Sandra

Just wanted to say, the pictures are wonderful. It’s funny our Golden and Gordon just hooked up today. The kids and I were wondering what they would look like. Did not want it to happen, but it did.. They are going to be beautiful by the looks of it.
Could you e-mail more pics.
Thank Doug
[…] in the winter I have met Sandra, she hired me to do the photos of JaC and now when I needed help for the event she volunteered to […]
Sweet dog! I ´have a gordonmix to! 😀 Wonderful dogs!
This looks like a HOVAWART… check out that breed.
OMG!! Thank you Bobbi! I was just emailing this link to a friend and saw your comment. I googled Hovawart (after thinking you were making a Harry Potter reference!) and there is my dog! He was from the shelter so I had no idea and have never even heard of a Hovawart but I guess I have some reading to do.
Lovely pictures… I have a Gorden mix too… we thought she was Gorden and border collie… not sure but she looks a lot like your beautiful dog!
I love this dog. It is the perfect blend of my two favourite dogs! Where did you get him?/how can I get one just like him?
