When I was growing up we always had a multibreed dogs, mutts as you wish and they were great. They were healthy and happy, the last one lived till he was 18 years old. So Cory and Maddie are cross breeds, but since they both were rescued nobody really knows who their parents were. Story of Maddie is bitter sweet, she was not even a year old when someone threw her out of the farm. She was pregnant and forced to live on her own caring for the puppies up north in the country. No wonder she still does not trust other dogs.., I am so glad she found the home with Corey and Karen.
Maddie (left) is 3 about years old and Corey is about 6 years old. They are both really sweet with people. Corey wanted to be petted constantly throughout the shoot.
I have to admit they were somehow a challenge since we could not let them off leash and when leashed they did not want to stay where I wanted them. On top of that the sun was beaming down on us without mercy and the dogs kept on moving, one second in the shade another in the sun, not fun when you shot manual.
We caught a brief moment when the doggy park in Queens Park, New Westminster was empty to let Maddie run a bit.. but it did not last long since other dogs came in to the park and she decided they were not welcomed.
Corey on the other hand loves all the creatures big and small and has no problem making new friends. But how can you blame Maddie, I can just imagine how hard she had to fight for the live of her puppies at wild.
It took her a while to trust humans again, but Karen’s love made her trust people again. Maybe Cory’s affection can teach her to trust other dogs again? Time will tell.
What a great team they make!
Corey is believed to be a mix of Collie and Shepherd, I can see a bit of Collie in the shot below (right) and he character is just like Lassie’s…
Love and wisdom in Corey’s eyes.
Big thank you to Karen for adopting these these fabulous dogs and giving them a loving home they deserve. Enjoy the last days of summer!
