Brutus-small mix of Pug and Brussels Griffon

I had a pleasure of meeting Brutus over the weekend he is a small mix, possibly of a Pug and a Brussels Griffon. Brutus is a beautiful name, however it is was made famous by backstabbing assassin. Our Brutus is a sweet little dog, who already had 5 homes in 5 years of his life. He found a forever place with Shelley and Jericho who love him very much. This shot was the very first shot taken that day, it barely every happens that the first snap makes the cut, but I think this one deserves to be shown.

Before we met Shelley explained to me that Brutus cannot be trusted off leash, so we chose the area far away from cars and other dangers, but majority of photos you will see here were taken with the leash attached..

Having a puppy myself I am still in awe when I see the dog that will sit and stay..usually the ones I photograph are the crazy, wondering types with no regards for obedience.

Brutus impressed me immensely, I have to say his mom painted quite unruly picture for me. But if you want to be a good dog photographer you find the ways to photograph all kinds of dogs.. Brutus was a super easy one! Just look at him, how sweet he looks!

I have to add that his coat is not only shinny, but also super soft to touch.

What a poser! However he is not one of these guys who likes to look at the camera..

Brutus is quite a runner and has quite a set of teeth on him too..

Brutus loves his parents too, you can see it in his eyes…focused on the parents!

Bye for now Brutus, have a nice summer maybe we will see you around the lake again!

Shakira White Shepherd and Lab mix Off Leash Photography session in Richmond

I met Shakira nearly year ago during the Paws for Cause SPCA walk, me and her mom chatted about scheduling the session and now here were are…

Shakira is about 6 years old Shepherd lab mix in beautiful white and tan colors. She was adopted from Richmond SPCA when she was about 1 year old and she has been leaving with Michelle ever since.

We met early in the morning on Iona Beach in Richmond, it was nice and quiet. Shakira really enjoyed herself running in the water and splashing around.

She tried to chase the birds and find things in the water. Shakira is a happy dog, she got name after shaking her behind with joy!

Michelle  mentioned she really liked the shot of two Shepherds running into the water from my portfolio and here is my attempt to make her happy.

(Pss! Michelle…there is more to come in the album!)

I think that is enough for the water shots, let’s try something different…

Having some fun with Lens baby, but trying to find the sweet spot on the moving dog.. well not easy

And now for something completely different again…wait! Is it the same dog??

Yes, it is Shakira! Comical!

That dog can smile! I miss her already! Thank you girls for the lovely morning. I promise more photos soon!

Mischa is growing!

I feel so bad I kept on promising myself to have Mischa update every month, but well my clients are more important. I did finally decided to pick a few photos, and believe me that is a difficult task.

I will have to watch myself on this post because it can turn to 1000 page essay in a moment. I love to talk about Mischa, my days are about Mischa and so on and so on.

The shot below Mischa is tucked in daddy’s jacket and I am using my lens baby, yeah!

I have to say that for a dog photographer I am having a lot of challenges in photographing my own girl, she does not stay or sit and when I am alone with her it is almost impossible to put her where I want her.

Mischa is a very high energy dog, she like to run and jump a lot.

Do you remember  Sophie and Mila? They were the reason that I got Mischa as I fell in love with them, their mom and I became friends…Here they are with Mischa

Mischa has so many friends that I will at some point do the post Mischa’s friends only. Sophie and Mila were my inspiration to get Mischa and it was the best choice ever. She is the greatest dog, I could not imagine her being any better than she is.

Mischa comes with us everywhere, for the olympics she had her own Canada T-shirt and she even got to wear the gold medal on her neck. We bumped into Jon Montgomery and he was gracious enough to allow Mischa to lick his face and try on the gold. I hope he will not mind me posting this photo.  This one was taken right downtown Vancouver and you can see the reflections from his security team in the black car.

So now Mischa thinks she is special and well she is! To me for sure, she is snoring away on my sofa right now and it is loud, lol!

Sometimes with help of treats I am able to get her to hold still..

I cannot believe how much her body is changing, she is really growing fast and she is super strong!

First time swimming on Kitsilano Beach!

oh, my Mischa! I love you so!
